In my opinion, the best spyware/adware blocker is AVAST. It is free for home users. It is also an antivirus program. Go to www.avast.com to get your free download. I have had Avast in my computer for three months and haven’t had any problems at all.

iPTech 5 – Which is the Best Anti-Virus Software?

Here’s a little insight on Anti-Virus. Just a few things you should know. Never forget, test before you buy it, or you might end up with something that doesn’t suit your needs or doesn’t appeal to you (in terms of ease of use) or even, a piece of software that will be a memory hog on your system. Do remember, the more things it does, the more resources (memory) it requires! Also, always change anti-virus when you’re NOT connected to the internet! I forgot to mention, but even though they’re popular, I do NOT consider Panda, Norton or McAfee, good options for Anti-Virus. Problems with them (not common to all): Memory Hog (eats to much memory); Not very effective in terms of virus definitions and not user friendly. Just a few of the ones available (USD – US Dollar): Free: AVG, Avast!, Bit Defender, Avira Anti-Vir Paid: Bit Defender, Kaspersky, Webroot, ESET Nod32 (from 25$ to 40$ ) Paid Internet Security Suites: Bit Defender, Zone Alarm, Kaspersky (from 40$ to 70$ ) You can check more details here: anti-virus-software-review.toptenreviews.com

Protecting Your Computer with a Firewall

Protecting Your Computer with a Firewall

Why do you need to protect your computer with a firewall? Does a firewall really help?  A firewall is a program or hardware that provides your computer protection from anonymous hackers, worms, and viruses that try to invade your computer through the Internet. It is a barrier that protects your computer. The firewall scans the things that go through your Internet access point to filter your computer from anomalies based on how you customized the settings.  If you are lucky, your antivirus firewall software program may already have an integrated firewall solution.

A firewall’s task is tantamount to an actual, physical firewall which keeps fire from spreading to other areas or even your home.

When using your computer at home, or you have a network of computers, or you are using your computer for business, it is essentially important to turn on your firewall.  The firewall has two variations. One is hardware and the other is a software program. The hardware firewall is a piece of electronic device which is usually used by businesses handling large networks. Computers used at home usually use the software firewall.

]]>

The firewall is needed especially if you have a DSL service or a cable modem for Internet connection. But, having your firewall turned on does not mean you are completely and fully protected from hackers, worms, and viruses.  The firewall will not always block virus in emails or malwares from attacking and infiltrating your computer.  You also need to have updated antivirus software installed in your computer to double the security and increase the protection.

Firewalls use different combinations of the three ways to control the inflow and outflow of traffic in the network:

Packet filtering refers to the analysis of small chunks of data. The firewall scrutinizes the header information which holds the source, destination IP addresses, and the ports.  Packets or small bits of data that pass through the filters are sent to the requesting system while all the other data are rejected.

Proxy service. In the proxy service, the information or data from the Internet is reclaimed by the firewall and launched to the requesting system and from the requesting system to the firewall.

Stateful Inspection does not scrutinize the insides of the packets, rather, it evaluates key parts of the packet to the information in the trusted database.

Make sure that your computer runs with a firewall.  If you can, you should also try using an all-in-one security suite such as an antivirus firewall software program that works both as virus protection and firewall.

why my yahoo toolbar is not showing popup blocker and spyware detector buttons?

Question by oldman1950: why my yahoo toolbar is not showing popup blocker and spyware detector buttons?
the new tool bar has been installed but the buttons of spyware detector and popup blocker are not there

Best answer:

Answer by kathi1vee
Right-click on the toolbar. Click on Customize. They will be on the list of available buttons on the right box. If they are not listed on the right box, click on them in the left box and then click Add. They still may not show up on the toolbar unless you move them up on the list but there is a double arrow on the far right. Click on that and it will show you all the buttons on the toolbar that don’t show up.

Do you need both firewall and anti virus software? I just removed some viruses using SpywareDoctor; however, SpywareDoctor does not have a firewall. I want to disable McAfee because it did not stop the viruses and it has a firewall. Is a firewall really necessary now that I have SpywareDoctor Anti virus software?

I would not bother much about having a firewall. If you are behind a router i would bother even less. If you keep your computer clean of viruses and spyware you should be fine.

Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 and Premiere Elements 9 Bundle (PC Mac)

dynecomputers.co.uk Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 and Premiere Elements 9 Bundle (PC/Mac) (CD-ROM) The previous versions of these programmes that I had used was Photoshop Elements 5 and Premier Elements 3. But these would not work on my new PC that came with Windows 7, so I was forced to update. I had no problems during the instalation of the programmes and when adding my photos to the Organiser. It is early days but I found that Premier E 9 would not allow me to edit old recordings, so I will try Nero to complete this one project. No such problem with Photoshop Elements 9, I find the choices that it shows me a great improvement and easier to use when adding photos to emails as it shows the size of your attachment. I am still exploring its other assets. neodyne.co.uk
